Ferrari in Action at Goodwood

Ferrari will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend offering spectators a chance to see a wide range of innovative products bearing the Prancing Horse. Crowds in excess of 180,000 are expected for the event and with great weather forecast for all three days, the 2013 FoS is shaping up to be a memorable weekend for all involved with the 20th anniversary of this event.

The Scuderia Ferrari team is scheduled to demo their 2010 Formula 1 car twice each day as part of the Contemporary Grand Prix Cars class. Ferrari test driver Marc Gené will be driving the F10 (specifically chassis no.285) which Fernando Alonso previously took to four grand prix victories.

Making its official Goodwood debut in the Michelin Supercar Run is the F12berlinetta, the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever. The F12berlinetta’s direct-injected 6,266cc V12 produces 740hp and 509lb.ft of torque, 80% of which is available at just 2500rpm. Also participating in the Michelin Supercar Run are an Ice White Pearl ‘Tailor-Made’ 458 Spider and an FF sporting a special ‘Grigio FF’ exterior and a beautiful navy blue semi-aniline leather interior.

Ferrari fans will also be given the rare opportunity to see Eric Clapton’s SP12 EC, which was created by the company’s ‘Special-Projects’ division. The famous musician will entrust his one-off Ferrari, a bespoke creation with influences from the 512BB, to Gené.

One particular vehicle to look out for at the Cartier Style et Luxe show is a 1953 Ferrari 250 Europa Pininfarina. The first few examples of the Europa initially featured bodywork by Carrozzeria Vignale, but Pininfarina was asked to do the coachwork for the later vehicles, which are highly praised for their elegant styling.
