Luca di Montezemolo visits the children at Formula Estate Junior
Maranello 15th July 2010 – Luca di Montezemolo had an unusual morning today. The Ferrari Chairman visited the Formula Estate Junior summer camps for the children of Ferrari employees in Maranello.Formula Estate Junior is the latest in the Formula Uomo series of initiatives in favour of employees and their families that Ferrari has been running for a number of years now. “We wanted to help solve the problems that so many of the mothers in our workforce encounter in finding somewhere to leave their children during the long school holidays,” Montezemolo said. “So we decided to set up free summer camps near families’ homes and place of work, where the children could be looked after by qualified professionals.”
Over 200 children, between the ages of 3 and 14, attend the camps and today their mothers wanted to thank the Ferrari Chairman in person for having introduced the initiative. The younger kids attend the Bertacchini Infants’ School, while the older go to the San Biagio Summer Centre, both in Maranello. The summer camps will remain open from 7:30 to 20:30 until the 31st July. “We have been making significant investments in support activities for our employees and their families for a number of years now. For example we have already introduced free specialist healthcare for the entire family, free textbooks, grants for academically bright kids and now, free summer camps”, the Chairman explained. “And we’re certainly not going to stop here.” Ferrari Chairman enjoyed his special visit also watching the show put on by the kids and was given a large number of drawings to take away with him.
Luca di Montezemolo thanked the mayor of Maranello, Lucia Bursi, for her support for Ferrari’s initiative and for permission to make use of public resources for the camps. It has been a week of intense work for Ferrari. It began with the convention of dealers from all around the world and continued yesterday with the traditional Ferrari Podium event in Maranello, where the company’s best partners and suppliers were awarded. This year’s awards went to Michelin (Ferrari Technology Award), MTS Systems (Innovation Award), Fontana (Italian Excellence Award), Shell (President’s Award), and Fenice (Special Award for Sustainable Energy).
