From Birmingham to Maranello
Maranello, 25 September 2014
Today Jon Stenson, an employee of Graypaul (a Ferrari dealership in Birmingham, UK) arrived at the gates of Ferrari’s headquarters on bicycle, having completed a 2,246 km ride through Europe. Jon undertook this grueling challenge to raise funds for the Mat Davis Foundation, a charity established in memory of a young man who lost his life to brain cancer.
The trip took him 20 days, during which he pedaled a bicycle weighing 62 kg laden with supplies. He cycled south from Birmingham, through London and the picturesque North Downs to Dover, ferried across the English Channel, biked through France, Switzerland and then into Italy. A highlight for Jon was climbing the legendary Col du Galibier, the sixth highest mountain pass in the Alps.
Upon hitting Italy’s Piedmont region Jon was faced with inclement weather which included snow and driving rain, but as he headed south temperatures began to rise and the sun started to shine. Today as he arrived in Maranello accompanied by Graypaul dealership principal Stuart Hood, Jon was all smiles having met this impressive challenge and raised an impressive €15,000 for a very worthy cause.
Well done, Jon!
