The third annual Polish rally attracts 30 Ferraris in a 700 km journey to the Baltic Sea
First held in 2013, last week’s Polish Cavalcade saw no fewer than 30 Ferraris take part in a four-day tour across Poland. The cars included a wide selection of models from a Testarossa to special limited series, such as the 599 GTO and 458 Speciale A, right up to the new California T. Starting in Katowice in the far south of the country, the Ferrari clients covered a route that took them through Warsaw and Masuria as far as the seaside spa resort of Sopot on the Baltic Sea.
On Friday morning the tour took in a fascinating visit to an impressive collection of classic Ferraris where the host welcomed the clients to a garden party with delightful homemade cakes and jams. The next stop was the Autodrom Pomorze in Pszczolki, the newest racing track in Europe. Here, on the 1.5 km circuit that had been inaugurated just one week earlier, the Ferrari clients were able to learn safe driving techniques and test their skills on a wet course with professional instructors. While they awaited their turn, drivers and co-drivers alike could also take part in kart races and the competition heated up considerably on the news that two prizes were on the table – a Corso Pilota driving course for the gentleman and, for the lady, the chance of taking part in an Esperienza Ferrari event at the factory.
That evening the cavalcade drew into Sopot where hundreds of spectators awaited them in a truly festive atmosphere. On Saturday the participants were treated to a VIP day at the horse races – Poland’s most exclusive event – at the Ciekocinko Stables. The event concluded with a gala dinner at the Sheraton Hotel terraces where the new 488 GTB was presented alongside its progenitor, the 308 GTB, in a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the berlinetta’s inception.
