On Saturday 1, the beautiful setting of the Mugello circuit provided the backdrop to the first Italian National Duathlon event, proving what a great venue it is, whatever the event.

Over 700 took part in this classic contest, the race consisting of one lap of the track running, four laps cycling and then a final half lap running again.

Both races ended in a sprint, with the winner of the Mens event being Dario Chitti, of C.U.S. Parma, with a time of 56’56” beating Daniel Hofer by 1 second and Massimo De Ponti by 2, these last two both from the Centro Sportivo Carabinieri.

In campo femminile il successo è andato alla slovena Mateja Simic, della Società Sportiva DDS, che in 1h04’59” ha preceduto, rispettivamente di uno e quattro secondi, le azzurre Sara Dossena, del Team A.S.D., e Charlotte Bonin del Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Azzurre. In the Womens race, victory went to the Slovenian Mateja Simic of Societa Sportiva DDS in a time of 1h 04’59”, followed home at 1 and 4 seconds respectively, the Italians Sara Dossena of Team A.S.D., and Charlotte Bonin of Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Azzurre.
