Ferrari at the Brussels Motorshow with its last models and the 458 Challenge

Brussels, January 10th 2012 – During the 90th Brussels Motor Show the Ferrari stand will feature the two latest models to be launched: the FF, a four-wheel drive four-seater with a 660 HP, mid-front-mounted V12, and the 458 Spider. Alongside the two new models and the Ferrari California, the company’s versatile 2+2 with a folding hard top, will be a 458 Italia with a special finish to celebrate Ferrari’s 60 years in Belgium as well as the 458 Challenge, the one- make racing version of the 458 Italia.

The 458 Spider is a mid-rear-engined two-seater featuring a fully retractable aluminium hard-top, a world first for a sports car with this layout.

The 458 Spider’s innovative new hard-top is not only 25 kg lighter than a traditional folding soft-top, but is also quieter and thermally more efficient when raised. Aside from taking just 14 seconds to open or close, the hard-top was engineered to occupy a very small space when stored so that the designers were able to include a generous rear bench for luggage behind the two seats.

The rear windscreen doubles as an effective wind-stop, which is electrically adjustable. When the hard-top is folded away the wind-stop opens to the height that guarantees the most efficient aerodynamics, reducing buffeting in the cockpit.

For the Brussels Motor Show, the 458 Spider is finished in yellow livery as a tribute to Belgium

As a tribute to the «écurie Francorchamps», celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, Ferrari shows a very special 458 Italia, featuring especially personalised colours for the Brussels Motor Show, recalling the écurie’s original livery: grey and yellow.

Next to the 458 Spider and the Coupè the 458 Challenge – main protagonist of the single-marque Championship in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific – together with the Ferrari California and the revolutionary FF, will complete the range presented at the show in Belgium.
